Are Women Not Allowed to Have Standards?

Influencer B. Simone has faced backlash after making a video sharing her thoughts about women’s standards for men not meeting their own lives.

The video created a massive conversation about whether women should always be reminded about their standards and what they should bring to the table.

“You want him to be financially stable; well, start saving cause you can’t keep a dime to your name,” she said.

Most people felt that her approach to this conversation came off extremely judgemental and entitled, especially since B.Simone has a large woman following.

Throughout B. Simone’s career, she has always enforced and uplifted women to manifest the life they want for themselves.

With this situation, Simone’s tone came as a shock because due to her saying things such as “He has to have a job, you need to go fill out some applications cause you’re still unemployed,” she said.

The phrase “it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it” applied well to this situation simply because the message was understandable, but the delivery was not appropriate.

The uproar on Twitter started the conversation of why it seems that women are not allowed to have standards without it seeming as if they are the problem.

According to the Pew Research Center, 56 percent of women say it is hard to find someone who meets their expectations.

“Single-and-looking women are far more likely than single-and-looking men to say that trouble finding someone who was looking for the same kind of relationship or who meets their expectations are major reasons they’ve had difficulty,” according to the Pew Research Center.

This study confirms that women should not have to be judged or feel bad for expecting certain things when dating because they have such a hard time maneuvering through the dating pool in general.

What this enforced is women being allowed not to settle when searching for a partner.

When it comes to the comments of B.Simone and why they were negatively received, her core fanbase happens to be Black women, and many times it is the hardest for Black women to find a significant other who meets their standards.

The controversy is based on her trying to bring down other women to gain the attention of men.
